Newsletter 7th February 2020

10th February 2020Admin

This weekend we heard how Jesus, as a baby, was presented to God in the Temple in Jerusalem. This presentation finds its complete and perfect fulfilment in the mystery of the passion, death and Resurrection of the Lord. The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord is a combined feast, commemorating the Jewish practice of the purification of the mother after childbirth and the presentation of the child to God in the Temple and his buying back (redemption) from God. It is also known as the Feast of the Purification of Mary, and the Feast of Candlemas. It is also called the Feast of Encounter (Hypapánte in Greek) because the New Testament, represented by the baby Jesus, encountered the Old Testament, represented by Simeon and Anna. Joseph offered two pigeons in the Temple as sacrifice for the purification of Mary after her childbirth and for the presentation and redemption ceremonies performed for baby Jesus.

Christmas is coming! There are loved ones to see, gifts to give, baking to share. We prepare our homes for the celebration. Yet even more important than this outward preparation is the preparation of our heart.

The Advent season is a beautiful reminder to prepare our hearts as we prepare our homes — to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus! At the start of this week, we light the first of the four candles in the Advent wreath: the candle of Hope. https://thelife.com/advent-week-1-the-candle-of-hope

A prayer of Commitment

Heavenly Father, I admit that I have fallen short of your standards and I’m sorry about that. I believe that Jesus is your Son and that He died for me. I’ve considered the cost of following Jesus as Lord of my life and I want to go for it. So I come to Him as my Saviour and Lord. I ask for the help and strength of His Holy Spirit to fill me that I may follow Him all my days. Amen

Newsletter 26th September 2019

26th September 2019Admin

The past few weeks have been full of smiles, learning and new friendships. It is so wonderful to see so many happy faces around school.

In the words of the CES, ‘Time spent at school should not only equip us for life in the world but instil in us a love for knowledge and a desire to seek truth and wisdom. Education is a lifelong pursuit and it is the job of parents and teachers alike to plant and nurture seeds which will continue to grow and flourish over a lifetime. True education should also recognise the different gifts and talents of each pupil. Catholic education has at its heart the mission to help students uncover the essence of who they are and what it means to be in fellowship with others, seeking vocation and celebrating differences.’
